Senior Network Engineer

Top end remuneration available for the right candidate. Based in the Waikato but with potential for remote working with this well established and highly regarded hosting company.

  • Part of a data center services team that helps enterprise clients manage large scale operations in multiple, 3rd party data centers.
  • You will be working with the latest networking equipment including ASR routers, Cisco firewalls, N9K top of rack and core distribution switches.  

  • Work closely with enterprise clients, remote data center staff, IP transit providers, and your networking team members.

  • You will be architecting a resilient WAN that spans multiple data centers.

  • You will be a key person on a small team.

  • You will be in an on-call pager rotation emergencies


Essential skills/experience: 

  • Cisco switching and routing.

  • Experience with both IOS and NXOS.

  • BGP, OSPF, HSRP or other FHRP.

  • Writing technical documentation.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Experience working at an ISP or managed services provider.

  • CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or equivalent industry experience.

  • Comfortable with Linux/UNIX command line.

Desirable but not essential: 

  • Experience with datacenter cabling and design (fibre, copper, cross connects, SFPs).

  • Network design.

  • vPC.

  • DMVPN or similar.

  • Ansible or other network automation.

  • Cisco firewalls and security appliances.

  • IPv6 understanding.

Other skills and capabilities required:

  • Write clearly, concisely.

  • Professional, friendly, respectful and helpful (with colleagues and customers).

  • Can relocate to Waikato (ideally).  Remote/telework may be an option for the right candidate.
